Webinar: Earth Observations Applied to a Changing World: NASA Health and Air Quality Applications

  • American Academy of Pediatrics 601 13th Street, NW, #400N Washington, DC USA (map)

In this briefing hosted by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Lung Association’s Year of Air Pollution and Health, John Haynes will provide an overview of Health and Air Quality Applications in the Applied Sciences Program of the NASA Earth Science Division. He will describe how the integration of Earth observations in policy making and decision support activities can allow researchers, end users, and practitioners to evaluate air quality standards and interpret geospatial and ecological relationships of environmental health risks. He will present a selection of environmental health projects related to air pollution, drought, extreme heat, and wildfires. These projects will illustrate how Earth observations have supported surveillance and monitoring programs, enhanced communication among stakeholders, and advanced coordinated response efforts to mitigate environmental health risks.
